Past Life Regressions - why sometimes they're not successful.

Someone recently told me they had tried past life regressions many times but it had never worked for them, and wondered why. This is my response based on my studies of Qabalah and Karma.

The purpose of doing a past life regression is to get insights into who you 'were' and how it relates to your current life. The sort of experiences we have in our day to day life are often linked to karma brought through from previous lives. There may be many reasons why attempts to journey back in time have been unsuccessful. One being the individual is not ready or strong enough on an emotional level.

Past life regressions can have a major impact and really throw you off balance. The role of the **Doorkeeper is to protect the conscious mind. Everyone has a Doorkeeper. A Doorkeeper is a Protector of the Mind. It could be that the individuals' Doorkeeper is protecting them by ensuring information - filtered down from the subconscious mind - is released at a rate that can be handled without any detrimental effects. So, that's one reason why a past life regression might not be successful. Another reason is that maybe the method/person/people guiding the regression are not in tune with the individuals needs.

Although regression is a good way of getting past life information, there is another way and that is through observing your life and paying attention to the situations and events surrounding the people with whom you share your life experiences. Karma is linked to the way we emotionally react and respond and the sort of events and situations that we continuously find ourselves in.

It's good practise to make a note of things that keep cropping up in your life and how they make you feel.

Do the same patterns keep repeating themselves? If so, there is a strong indicator that the issues that create challenges for you are the things you need to focus on. Consider how you automatically react and respond. It is the reaction to events that determines whether karma continues or drops away. It could be you need to find another way of handling the person/event or situation that works better for you. Sometimes we don't even realise when we are caught in a cycle. The natural thing for us to do is react and respond in the same old way because that is the habit we have gotten ourselves into.

If the situation keeps presenting itself then you are being challenged to find a way of acceptance that this is a karmic condition - unfinished business brought through from previous lives - that will follow you, like a shadow, from lifetime to lifetime until it is finally recognised and addressed. If someone, or something, triggers a reaction within you that hits you on an emotional level, then it is possibly linked to karma.

Emotional independence is the key. It is the emotional reaction and subsequent behaviour (action) that determines whether the karmic condition continues or drops away.

Understanding the purpose of karma - and how to recognise your own karmic conditions - is just one of the many ways the Tree of Life and practical Qabalah can be used.
